The Fifth Season: Recent Jewellery
February 1 - 24, 2001

Prime Gallery is honoured to present our 2nd solo exhibition of enticing jewellery created by Montreal-based artist Josée Desjardins. This collection of jewellery is produced utilizing the utmost professional goldsmithing techniques, from a variety of stones, enamels, and metals. The result is eye-catching pieces ranging form rings to brooches, promising to both flatter the wearer and ignite interesting conversation.

Continuously moving forward, Desjardins has created a collection of work expressing sophistication and style as well as experimentation. The first series in this exhibition is created through the use of mixed media resulting in a wonderful display of colour and texture while continuing to showcase her profound ability as goldsmith. "The pieces in the series Secret Desires: The Art of Camouflage include an internal part that is hidden and an external case which camouflage this reality.  To express the secret desires, I used organic matter (the fruit of the eucalyptus tree and a section of the golden rod) which I covered with fragments of glass, slate, pebble, cement and epoxy."  The second series in the exhibition is more true to her trademark style of silver and gold blends juxtaposed creating organic shapes and patterns suggesting nature.

This exhibit of unique pieces of jewellery offers the wearer beauty and imagination that will be enjoyed for many years.
