Angelo di Petta lives with his feet in two worlds. He spends time at his home and studio in rural Ontario and he teaches in downtown Toronto at the Ontario College of Art and Design. Perhaps this duality is the foundation for the dichotomy that is present in his current body of work.
Framed photo-reliefs, ceramic vessels and sculptures present a cohesive body of work informed by close examination of rocks and their erosion. Skillful manipulation of his chosen media allows Angelo to contrast thick and thin, heavy and light, coarse and refined, light and dark, hollow and solid, etc in order to take the viewer on a timeless visual voyage. This exhibition merges our tactile and visual senses, creating a linkage without words.
